Dawson's Story
This Valentine’s Day, Nicole Irwin is thankful for her Valentine – her 6-year-old son, Dawson. Just a few days after undergoing brain surgery to remove the front half of his left temporal lobe, Dawson is playing with other children in the game room of the
Gatewood Ronald McDonald House.
Dawson and Nicole have been guests at the
Gatewood House since August 2011 after Dawson was diagnosed with tuberous sclerosis complex (TSC), a rare genetic disease that causes non-malignant tumors to grow in the brain and other vital organs.
Helping families since 1979.
Atlanta Ronald McDonald House Charities provides a home away from home for families of ill and injured children who must travel to receive treatment at Atlanta area hospitals.
Atlanta’s two Ronald McDonald Houses are a beacon of hope for families during the worst crisis of their lives. Families gain emotional support from other families going through similar experiences. Caring staff and volunteers create a comfortable, loving environment that allows them to focus on the well-being of their child. » Learn More
